DRAGOON TRIBUTES FROM THE WWII DUTCH RESISTANCE

Correspondence 1: November 10, 2023
My Grandad belonged to a small Dutch Resistance Group
that came under command of A./ XII.Manitoba Dragoons on Oct.30 1944 until Nov.9 1944.
Then under XII.Manitoba Dragoons itself and assigned to 247.A-T.Bty.,RA
for XII.Manitoba Dragoons until mid December 1944,
but they remained under command of 247.A-T.Bty.,RA until March 14 1945
on the outer tip of the Western Front line between Tholen Island, St.Philipsland Peninsula up to Moerdijk.
Here is some footage I filmed with my cellphone.

Sincerely Richard Binkhuysen.

HILLMAN REPLY
Thanks for this rare footage, Richard.

Can we share this on our XII Manitoba Dragoons Website?

Correspondence 2: November 11, 2023

Hello Mr.Hillman,
I'll ask the Archivist of Tholen Island.
We have permission to use the entire 15 minute film, but it can take a few days to answer you.
I really would like to know who those 3 troopers were.
The tall 4th one is Dutch L.O. Lt.S.E.Dike.
Both my Grandparents are in the footage.
We are making a You-Tube series about the Resistance Group.
They never received any recognition and most not even the Dutch Resistance Cross.
Both the Group and also XII.Manitoba Dragoons fought against German Fallschirmjäger Rgt.6
and faced 4,5 months(130 days) raids of Marine Einsatz Kommando 40 or short  MEK40
which was the German equivalent of the British Royal Marines Commandos.
They raided  St.Philipsland Peninsula and Fort Sabina on the 22/23 of January 1945
where Trooper Veness was taken as POW and died shortley after.

Greetings Richard Binkhuysen
