• The Library is open the same hours as the Museum.  Tuesdays - 9:00 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

This service is available to:

• Military – serving or former military will be registered with the library by providing name, address, telephone number(s), and email address, if available.
• Community borrowers – will be registered with the library by providing name, address, telephone number(s), and email address, if available.

Types of materials available:

• Books, Journals, Conference Proceedings, Technical Reports, Historical Papers and War Diaries.

• There is no charge to borrow materials. Materials must be picked up at the Museum.
• Books – 30 day loan period.
• Complete issues of journals, periodicals – In library use only.  Articles can be photocopied. Please Note:  photocopying more than 10% of a publication is a violation of copyright law.
• Newspapers – In library use only.
• Audiovisual: including videocassettes, CD-ROMs, DVDs, kits etc. – 7 day loan period, unless indicated otherwise.
• Reference – Reference items are for in-library use only. Special arrangement may be made for loan.
• Archives – In library use only.

Overdue Materials:

• Library materials must be returned or renewed by the due date.
• Overdue notices are sent out by email or Canada Post or the patron is contacted by telephone.
• Library patrons with overdue materials cannot borrow any more materials until the overdue materials have been returned or renewed.
• Materials that have been requested by another borrower must be returned promptly by the due date. Failure to do so could result in the suspension of library privileges.

Lost/Damaged Items:

• Library patrons must pay for any materials that they have borrowed and have lost or damaged.
• When an item is six weeks overdue, a bill will be sent to the client listing the replacement cost of the item.
• If the item is not returned, borrowing privileges will be suspended until the item (s) are returned or renewed.

Renewals:

• Materials may be renewed if the item is not on hold/reserved for another person.

Holds/Reserves:

• If an item is checked out to another person, it may be put “on hold/reserve” for someone else. When the item is returned, the next person will be automatically notified.

Privacy of Records:

• Confidentiality of circulation records shall be maintained.
• No information regarding items on loan or loaned in the past shall be made available to any person other than the borrower.
• The one exception is for administrative purposes, including resolving items not returned or lost.

Archives:

Military materials are held on site in the Archives, including Canadian Army and Mounted Police Units of Western Manitoba documents.

Research:

• The Museum conducts research to document its collection and to answer public enquiries.
• Scholars doing research are always welcome.
